Some of you might have heard about the wind storm that hit Ohio last weekend. It was a huge deal here. 500,000 people without power, and the power company had sent their crews down to Texas to help with Ike down there! So when Ike came up to Ohio, there was no one here to fix all of the downed lines. Nice. We were very thankful that we didn't lose power, but we *did* lose half a tree. If the tree had hit 6 inches closer to the house it would have taken the house with it.

Sorry about the tree-yikes! I was north of Houston when Ike rumbled through, and my parents lost EIGHT enormous trees. It sucks.
I just read your previous posts--those embryos look amazing! I am so excited for you--hooray for CCRM. I'll be there in less than 5 weeks.... :)
Wow! You're lucky that tree wasn't planted 6 inches closer to the house! I'm glad that you didn't lose power...too bad about the tree!
I live in Ohio too. We had trees down but none right by my house.
Too bad about the tree. Glad it did not land on the house.
Here from ICLW.
Wow, that's rough. Our yard was in a similar state. Thank goodness, our redneck neighbors helped us out with chainsaws and chippers. There are some advantages to a neighborhood like mine. :)
