on Creation

So, at church on Sunday (we actually made it!) the pastor guy was talking about how when children were conceived it was a miracle of God, etc. Something about his conversation made it sound like conception was 'mysterious'. I instantly thought to myself, well, we *know* when ours were created, and could probably narrow it down to a couple of people in a lab in Colorado! That made me smirk, but you can't exactly back-talk at church about those sorts of things. As much as ART is a part of our daily lives, a lot of people have *issues* with the whole god factor.
As an aside, I dream of sending CCRM cute pictures of our baby wearing a onesie that says something really smart like "my mommy and daddy made me at CCRM" with "I heart Dr Surrey" on the butt or something equally obnoxious.
Today marks the start of the 'double digits'. Almost as eventful as going from 9y/o to TEN but slightly less climactic. I marked the day by letting one of my friends start a registry for me. You see, if she does it then I'm not jinxing anything. I might be a *little* more optimistic, but I'm not stupid!
*** ETA: David says I missed the point completely about the sermon, and that CCRM should include a free onesie with all the $$ we paid them to cycle. Heh.

You don't know how happy I am to see your ticker say 10w1d. OMG I am just beaming for you!! I can just picture the onesie. I think CCRM should give those out: "Made at CCRM" and then "I heart" your specific RE. Wouldn't that be so cute! I'm wishing you continued happiness and can't wait to hear more updates on your little miracle!

Yeah, I don't think priests/preachers like to hear that anyone but God created life.

I know a LOT of people who have left it up to God and they're childless. By contrast, women with fully blocked fallopian tubes have had children thanks to science.

All I can surmise from that is that God doesn't want me (and a lot of other women) to have children but I can turn to science and get that chance back.

Hey, did you ever think about the fact that IVF conceptions are "immaculate"? Does that make us like the Virgin Mary? Oh wait, we'd have to be virgins for that... :)

OMG Cindy, that's AWESOME! I just cracked up so loud that I scared my cat! :) Yeah, theoretically, a virginal 18 year old girl could have IVF and claim an immaculate conception. Well, go figure!

That is really fun. A registry is a significant milestone. 10 weeks. 1/4 of the way there. You are inspiring. I long to be right behind ya.

Wow--congrats for double digits! You're really moving right along!

Thanks for commenting on my blog, and all the support.
My biggest problem is I realize I do NOT feel closure after this cycle, and I so hoped I would...sigh.

I'm so happy to see you at double digits!! Every milestone is worth celebrating.

I love the onesie idea and the "I heart Dr Surrey" on the butt is just too cute. (: I have to completely agree with David. They should throw one in with the IVF package deal.

Yay for double digits! And, hoping you can get excited about that registry soon!!

Love the onesie idea! And to echo David, umm...that should be part of the package.
